Composition and application
Nicrofer 6030® (2.4642, Alloy 690) belongs to the group of iron-chromium-nickel alloys, which have the highest percentage of chromium from all corrosion-resistant nickel alloys. A high chromium content also improves resistance in an atmosphere containing sulfur, as well as at high temperatures.
The alloy is used for the manufacture of structures operating under pressure and in oxidizing environments. In particular, the alloy Nicrofer 6030® (2.4642, Alloy 690) is resistant to mixtures of hot sulfuric, nitric and hydrofluoric acid, and also for relatively salts of these acids (both at normal and elevated temperatures).
This alloy also has excellent resistance to stress cracking, which is used in nuclear reactors, for the production of steam, separators and welds.
