Features of composition and application
Titanium alloy OT4−0 is a three-component pseudo-alloy of titanium of the «titanium-aluminum-manganese» system. Currently, the OT4−1 alloy is used for the production of various aerodynamic designs, as well as for other aerospace applications. The alloy, which has the effect of superplasticity, is a replacement for expensive alloys of titanium with aluminum and vanadium.
On this alloy tensile tests were carried out in the temperature range from 1073 to 1173 K (from 800 ° C to 900 ° C), in the strain rate range from 1 x 10−5 to 1 x 10−2 s-1, to characterize the high-temperature behavior of superplastic deformation. The maximum elongation of 450% is observed at 1123 K with an initial strain rate of 5.52 x 10−4 s-1, which indicates the superplastic behavior of this alloy. From the obtained tensile test results, the optimum superplastic temperature range is defined as 1098 K to 1148 K in the strain rate range 1.38 x 10−4 to 1.38 x 10−3 s-1.
