Composition and application
Nitronic 60® is known for its excellent abrasion resistance even at elevated temperatures. Additions of silicon and manganese to the main composition of this steel hinder the processes of abrasion and abrasion, so Nitronic 60® (Alloy 218) has been successfully used for the manufacture of various fasteners and pins that require strength and resistance to wear.

Technological features of Nitronic 60® (Alloy 218, N-60): the temperature range of forging is 1150… 1260ºC. Forging should not be performed below 925ºC, and to achieve maximum corrosion resistance, forgings should be annealed. When machining it is recommended to use a carbide tool. The alloy Nitronic 60® (Alloy 218, N-60) is satisfactorily welded by the methods of electric welding. Gas welding is not recommended because of the risk of carburizing the metal in the weld zone.
